Cosy warmth - instructions for the Swedish oven

The Swedish oven provides a pleasant cosy atmosphere on cold days. Detailed instructions for safe use can be found here on this page. Please only use the wood provided and never leave the fire unattended.

  • Preparation

Set the air supply (throttle valve) at the top of the pipe to vertical (vertical position).

Set the air throttle under the glass to the rightmost position (maximum air supply).

There is a fold-out spacer under the glass door. This provides more air supply during the lighting phase and can be folded back in again 10-15 minutes after lighting with the fire glove.

A piece of wood can be placed between the glass door and the combustion chamber to keep the door open while the stove is being filled. Caution: The door is made of glass and the magnet keeps the glass closed. Please never let go uncontrollably, but always hold the handle (with a fire glove) and open and close carefully.

Always wear fire gloves when the stove is hot!!!

  • Filling

First place two large logs parallel to each other in the oven. Place two more logs on top at a 90-degree angle. Then place two layers of kindling on top in the same way. Make sure that the air supply holes in the combustion chamber are not completely covered. Place the kindling cubes between the upper layers and light them.

  • Refill

When the fire is almost out and only the embers are left, you can add 2 large logs.

Please use fire gloves and wood tongs, as the handle of the door gets very hot.

Open the handle with the fire glove and add wood with the wood tongs (please do not throw it in, but place it carefully on the embers). If you add wood 2-3 times, the stove will retain the heat for up to 11 hours.

After the last addition and the fire has gone out, i.e. when only the embers are still visible in red, the throttle flap under the glass door and at the top of the pipe can be closed. To do this, turn the throttle switch under the glass door all the way to the left and the throttle valve on the pipe to the horizontal position, thereby maximising the heat stored in the stove and slowly releasing it into the environment.
